Moong, also known as Green Gram, is a short-duration pulse crop rich in protein, fiber, and nutrients. It is grown mainly during the Kharif and sometimes summer seasons. Maharashtra is one of the major producers, with farming concentrated in dryland areas.

• Suited for areas with less water and early monsoon

• Known for quick harvest cycles (around 60–70 days)

• Procurement is done by NAFED and state marketing federations under MSP
